A Greener Way to MOYA 2024

OUR RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FESTIVAL ATTENDEES

MOYA is on a mission, urging you to join us in reflecting on the environmental impact of your decisions. Every small choice we make to reduce our carbon footprint adds up. Let's unite for a greener future.

Some of the choices we would love for you to join us in are:

  • Minimise the use of private cars and come to Ballybunion by Public Transport, we’ve created a separate page outlining the services here.

  • Avoid the use of single use water bottles and coffee cups. We have at least 2 water fountains in Ballybunion (at top of the Castle Green & within the Community Centre) which we will encourage people to use for refills. We also ask people to bring their keep cups and use them when purchasing tea/coffee in town. Businesses in Ballybunion will be delighted to see you.

  • We know how damaging single use plastics are which is why we encourage our suppliers and partners to use alternatives wherever they possibly can.  In fact, we insist that any traders at our Festival Base Camp use compostable packaging.

  • Avoid the use of toxic, non-recyclable, or single use materials

  • We prioritise paperless systems where possible and otherwise use FSC recycled paper products. We support local services wherever possible - printing, food supplies, etc

  • We are asking all food businesses to include local & Irish made produce and to actively promote this fact everywhere they can

  • We use our MOYA festival to raise awareness of climate change impacts to local biodiversity, through walks, talks, art & other creative means

  • We work with the newly launched Brilliant Ballybunion project to do all of the above.
